tip: make subfolders in your mods folder for each type of mod, for easier updating and troubleshooting purposes!
how do i mod stardew valley?
- download smapi below! this is the mod framework, and is needed for pretty much every mod to function. smapi will run either from the play button on tardew valley in steam, or by running the smapi application itself, which will also launch the game.
- now that you have the foundations, you can begin downloading mods! the best places to get stardew valley mods are on the nexus, or moddrop. i use both of these in the links below, as well as one or two links from naver cafe, a south korean social media platform.
- when you download a mod, you’ll need to unzip the file in order to get the content. double-clicking it usually does the trick.
- this folder is now ready to be put into your mods folder! now, where is your mods folder? easy! go into steam, onto the stardew valley library page, click the settings cog, manage, and browse local files. go into content, then your os (in my case, macos), and find the mods folder.
- now you can drag and drop any unzipped mod folders into this mod folder, and they will be implemented into your game!
- if you’re on a mac, i suggest labelling the mods folder with a color, so it’s more easily accesible, or pinning it if you’re on windows!
